In my family, our Family tradition during Lent is to watch the Passion Of Jesus the Movie. AS good Friday is approaching I begin to wonder how our life is.
Whatever we’re going through in this Life Our Lord Jesus has been through it all.
Satan tempted him telling him if you’re the son of God change the stones to bread and so on.
people were jealous of his teaching and found a way to humility him because he was telling the truth.
Most of all about from the tempting he encountered from the devil. The painful part at least from my perspective is what Judas did to him.
The person he took as a friend, traveled with him, ate with him. He even saw all the miracles he performed with no malicious intent. He still betrayed his friend.
Just because of the money. Money is good, but I tell you is the root of all evil. Nowadays one can receive something in exchange to betray a friend.
And what did Judas do with the money he used to betray Jesus with…Nothing. We know how that ended.
I also believe they are two kinds of people in our lives. Peter and Judas.
Peter in the sense that although he denied his friend Jesus he realized his mistake, asked for forgiveness, and God forgave him. He was made the Pillar Stone of the Church, he carried the good news of Jesus. he asked and he was forgiven. Returned back to his root knowing that what he did was wrong.
On the other hand, Judas betrayed Jesus. He was ashamed to ask for forgiveness, his mind was eating him up after he betrayed his friend. but due to pride( I don’t know if that’s the case). He couldn’t come back and face the other disciple which led him to take his own life. Which makes me wonder what’s the use of the money he took then?
Moral of the day. Whatever you are going through Our Lord has been through it. ask him for his grace to help you get through the storm. And remember after the storm comes to the calmness.
The lesson is also people that know you well are the ones that betray you the most because they know your in and out. So they use it for their own little advantage which at the end of the day. Their conscience won’t rest just like Judas. He knew where Jesus will be at that moment so he led the soldiers to him.
Judas did not even stop to reconsider. Was he so convinced that what he was doing wasn’t seen as a betrayal? Or was he so consumed by the devil that entered into him that he became weak to say No to the evil deed?
Peter or Judas which kind of friend are you to someone you call a friend?
Quote :
maybe satan doesn’t enter into us with quite the force and power as he did Judas that night, but does Satan make a small and steady inroads without us even realizing it, every time we knowingly choose self over other, wrong over right, convenience over conscience < This is Evil, it is not a diffuse concept, it’s a person. ” With Satan, you can’t argue”
Pope Francis.
The last Phrase is true…because when you are doing evil you can’t argue with the evil thought because at that moment you are doing it to satisfy your own pleasure. That’s why you don’t care if you will hurt someone in the progress or not.
